Poetry in Motion

Ask your carschoolers to pick one word from a billboard or road sign.  Then tell them to try to find all the words that sound alike or that rhyme.

For example, let’s say they pick the word “free” from a billboard.  Now think of all the words that rhyme, such as “tree,” “bee,” “see,” “me,” “he,” and “she.”

For a more challenging version, ask your carschoolers to find a word on one sign and then find a word that rhymes with is on another road sign or billboard.

If your carschoolers are finding the game to be too easy, then have them select words they think will be nearly impossible to rhyme.  A couple of cheats are “orange” and “purple,” which really do not rhyme with any other words in the English language. See if they can find a few more.
