One carschooler from California makes a Flat Family on long car trips. She uses varying sizes of paper plates and draws faces and other features on them, and then attaches paper straws (folded back and forth so the are accordioned) for arms and legs.
She plays with them constantly and presses them against the car window to say hello to people passing by in their cars. Her mom says “Whenever we stopped along the way, people who saw her flat dolls were completely amused, and would often donate stuff to make hair and accessories for the Flat Family.
She spent many hours on the road happily engaged making members of the Flat Family and playing with them. Another great feature was that they didn’t take up much room in the car and could be stored easily in a box or bag.”
